Fair Housing Program

CRC FAIR HOUSING PROGRAM

The purpose of the Community Relations Council’s Housing Program is to educate and to help address fair housing issues impacting area residences.
CRC and its Housing Committee provides instructions on fair housing laws that prohibit discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, and familial status.

CRC’s Housing Committee is made up of board members and a network of committed volunteers who disseminate information on fair housing laws, predatory lending, legislative changes, and other issues concerning fair access to decent affordable housing. The achievement of fair and affordable housing for all our citizens is an attainable goal that CRC will continue to work toward.

In April of each year, the CRC hosts two major events:

  • Fair House Forum and Legislative Update – involves legislators and government officials, industry professionals and the general public
  • Poster/Calendar Contest – involves grades 1st through 12th in Richland and Lexington Counties school districts
